Mystery Solved?

So the other night I posted that now infamous video of Rob Ray reacting to something off camera while Ryan Miller is being interviewed. The video has been reposted on various Sabres blogs and even on Puck Daddy so I'm sure you've seen it by now. But like the most of you I'm sure, I can watch it over and over again and still get a kick out of it. So while I was watching it for the 27th time, I pursued the comments on YouTube and came across this comment:

I was listing to the morning show on WGR, and this came up. Howard Simon talked to Rob, and he said that the Candian Media was pushing and shoving; trying to get to the front. So apparrently he's doing this to the media

Hmm...could that be it? I can see why the Canadian media would be extra pushy considering it was Miller's first game back after being sidelined with an injury, so they would want to interview him...but it's a little disappointing to be honest. I was really hoping it was something more funny like him seeing a naked player out in the open in front of all the cameras and the reporters. I can see it. The player (you can decide which player it is) is all, "Screw it...I'm taking a shower." and he just strips naked and strolls to the showers disregarding the media that's swarming the locker room. Hey, if you're going to walk into a locker room full of sweaty guys undressing, you're just going to have to deal with the "consequences" (and by "consequences" I mean being surrounded by naked professional athletes). I'm sure Rayzor has seen a naked hockey player or two in his day, but not when there's a room full of cameras and reporters. Rob probably just wants to keep the true source of his shock a secret, so he came up with that lame "the Canadian media was being mean and pushing everybody" excuse to quiet all of us who are curious. I'm sure when the media gets too crazy in the locker room, Rayzor wouldn't mind stepping in and policing those folks.

Ah, the locker room after an important hockey game must be such a shit show that I want to witness. How do I go about getting one of those fancy press passes...

LMAO!

OK... Seriously? Ray? All that build up. I would def think it was a player *insert players name here* (I am going with Staffy) flapping his junk around while the media had their backs to him.

I would love a press pass too... *sigh* but you know me Caroline I would get out a Hi and freeze all up and wanna die. LOL!

For real...it's a total let down if that's really what it is. It certainly is better to think about a naked man running around freely in the locker room. Yes, I like that story better.

Hell yeah...the things I could do with a press pass. I'd just stand in the corner and take in the hilarity. Maybe I'd witness Ryan getting sassy and kicking a certain annoying columnist's ass.

But in order to not have my cover blown, I'd probably have to ask him a generic question about how the team found a way to buckle down late in the game or how they need to move their feet more (depending on the outcome of the game)... That way they might believe I'm a reporter and not just some weird blonde chick who commandeered a press pass.

It's so funny because he has really come out of his shell this season with the press. He did get a bit sassy last season but this year he has really taken on the roll as Mr. I am going to say what I feel and I don't care if you like it or not.

Just one of the many reasons I am a fan of Ryan's.

How disappointing is Rayzor's response to the video? Sounds like a complete BS answer.

"Maybe I'd witness Ryan getting sassy and kicking a certain annoying columnist's ass."

The two of you need to kick that columnist's ass. That would be highlight reel material along with the Rayzor video. What a great tidbit of info dropped by Ryan's dad regarding the columnist.

I would sell tickets! I am sure we can split the profits and nicely and still make a decent contribution to Ryan's Charity.

Now I wonder who that columnist is... hmmmm. I just can't figure it out. *evil giggles*

Really? I've always noticed Ryan as being pretty straightfoward and honest in his interviews. It's one of the reasons why I started taking an extra interest to him. First it was like, "Hey...this Ryan Miller guy is a pretty good goalie. Awesome." Then it was, "Hey...this Ryan Miller guy gives a pretty honest interview and he's got a good sense of humor." THEN during the playoffs with his long hair and playoff beard I was like, "WOAH...WAIT A MINUTE. He looks like Jesus. Ryan Miller is awesome."

And that's the story of how Ryan Miller became so near and dear to me.

Ryan can hold him down while I throw down the punches.

And yes, we'll totally sell tickets...all for a good cause of course. Even when he's kicking someone's ass, Ryan wouldn't have it any other way.

Katebits suggested Lydman may have transformed into a fighter jet and then back again just to freak out Pominville.

I support that theory 195%

Poor Jason, his innocent mind probably could not even begin to process a Finnish man transforming into a fighter jet and then back into his metal head self. He'll be up for weeks.

I bet it was a naked hockey player, too. Had to be! Rob is a good actor saying that it was the Canadian media.

Or maybe he was watching Derek and someone else start tickling each other and was highly disturbed by it...Petey must not have been in the locker room, so there has to be someone else who would do that with Derek.

No... What I am saying he has really opened up and is more comforatble. He has always said what he felt but not its with more attitude. He just takes more liberties with the media now that he is more comfortable with them.

He used to crack under pressure. I saw it here. When people would chant at him he would crack. My home barn (AHL) was terrible on him. I mean BAD. From the time he stepped out on the ice until the time he left, it was relentless. Now he has grow a thicker skin and dishes it back...

That's what I mean. I guess I didn't word it correctly the first time.

It was definitely a crazy, naked hockey player and he wasn't going to cover up for anybody! Or maybe it was Derek...you see, if someone could just throw a sister a bone and lend me a press pass then I would know the answer already.

Ah well...I'm sure it has to do with him growing up and maturing more as he gets more experience as a hockey player. It's fun watching our boys come up from the AHL to the big league. Like watching your kids grow up (because I totally know what that's like...). It's a touching moment, really. "Go on, you're all grown up know. Go on and be a NHL star now...and be as sassy as possible to the media."

I would think that if it was the press causing a kerfluffle in the locker room, that Miller would at least make an "easy there, guys" comment or something like that.

Part of me hopes that Ryan addresses this situation in his next blog entry.

Well... there are two locker rooms. At least, I assume because there are two at the HSBC. One with media, and one with naked players. they're really good at keeping the media out of the second one. So... tis not nakey Derek.

Unless he's streaking through the media locker room, then yes, you need a press pass.

Let's all bombard his website's e-mail demanding that he addresses this important issue in his next blog entry.

I was actually considering if there's a seperate area in the locker room where they all change, or if they just strip freely in front of their stalls once the media is out of the room (these questions keep me up at night...not really). I am still holding out on the theory that they run around naked in there, don't crush my dreams Elise!

I should go to Kinko's and make my own damn press pass. Havoc will ensue if they do not let me in with my own special homemade press pass. Maybe I can take one for the team and seduce Bucky Gleason and take his. I know no one should use the words "seduce" and "Bucky Gleason" together in the same sentence, but I'm willing to do it if it means I'll see some naked hockey players. Don't judge me.

Caroline! I got a few days behind in my blog reading and I missed the now famous Rob Ray video when you posted it. Thank you, THANK you for bringing this clip into our lives! I'm sorry that I wound up getting so much credit for it when YOU are the one who actually found it!

Seriously, thank you. :D

And I agree, there is NO WAY Rayzor made that face over a bunch of media members....unless those media members were naked, doing jumping jacks.

Hey, don't worry about it. The more it floats around the web, the more people see it...and I certainly would not want people to be deprived of such a gem.

That would have been great. It would have been better (if it actually happened) if Rayzor yelled, "For Pete Sake's Man! Put on Your Clothes! No one and I mean NO ONE wants to see that!"
