Hey Ryan, go eff yourself.

So I was going to make a fun post today which was me posting my Christmas list! But I have three final papers to write by tonight so I guess I'll have to save it for another day. I should be getting on those papers, but I had to laugh at this...

Ryan Miller claims that a ref told him to go *bleep* himself last night
. I love this shit. Can't you imagine the situation? I know I can. Although he's a goalie, and they're supposed to be in their own little world, Ryan's always been pretty involved in the game and I notice him talking to the refs a lot. So Ryan innocently asks a question and in return he gets a big old, "Go fuck yourself!" That shit is pretty funny, but at the same time it's pretty ridiculous that a ref would act so immaturely. I have a theory that the ref was just really pissed at Ryan for making all those saves. He made it harder for the Pens to get a win which meant that the ref had to go to more trouble and make more calls against the Sabres to help ensure that the Pens would win.

In all seriousness, it would be nice to see some accountability on the refs part. I was at the game when the Pens came to town and it was one of the worst officiated games I've been to. Last night was no exception. I've seen and read about other shitty officiating jobs around the league too. I know the refs can't be perfect, but at the same time they have a very important job to do and I would like to see more consistency and more accountability. Don't the players and coaches get fined by the league if they criticize the officiating? So I don't understand how these poor officiated games can be fixed if no one can really properly complain about them.

Oh well, after the shit show that was the officiating and the multiple 5-on-3s, Ryan had the ultimate "Go fuck yourself!" as he helped lead his team to a victory. Atta boy, Ryan.

These refs for some of these games are such jokes. The game on the 28th was so awful to be at JUST for the officiating. Everything else was splendid since the boys won.

It would've been priceless if Ryan has said the same thing to that ref after the game was over, but Ryan has a little something called 'class'.

Yeah, it makes the win extra sweet because the boys had to deal with the a team like the Penguins as well as poor officiating.

Haha yeah it would have been funny be he probably wouldn't have done that because I'm sure it warrents a suspension.

I think it's absolutely ludicrous that, if a player or coach mouths off to a ref, they get the book thrown at them, but a ref can take liberties with the players. Bull shit.

I know, really. Is Ryan Miller going to have to smack a bitch? Actually, no, because you can't hit a ref. Anddd also from his comments today he says he doesn't think he'll be fighting anytime soon. :(! Crushed dreams....

We saw Miller having an 'exchange' with one of the refs last night. It looked like he was being lectured by the zebra and we were wondering what the hell was going on. We even rewound it to see what had happened. That must be when it happened. If Miller had told the ref to go fuck himself (which, BTW, he should have!!), he would have been assessed a penalty and be subject to supplementary discipline. I think it is completely unprofessional and absolute bullshit! Of course, Miller & the team will probably be fined for criticizing the officiating. I'll send in a 20-spot to go toward that fine!!

Also, I came across this bit of silliness while perusing the rule book just now:

If, through misadventure or sickness, the Referees and Linesmen appointed are prevented from appearing, the League will make every attempt to find suitable replacement officials, otherwise, the Managers or Coaches of the two Clubs shall agree on Referee(s) and Linesman(men). If they are unable to agree, they shall appoint a player from each side who shall act as Referee and Linesman; the player of the home Club acting as Referee and the player of the visiting Club as Linesman.

hehe...misadventure!

Yeah you know I wouldn't be surprised if Miller is fined for saying that the officiating was "slanted".

Haha woah, I never knew that rule. That's pretty amusing. I wonder if it's ever happened in NHL history...
