What A Crock Of Shit

These games are always the toughest for me to take. I guess when the whole team plays like garbage the entire time it just becomes laughable. But when they're in the game for pratically the entire time, yet they still lose, well that's very infuriating. Especially when Ryan Miller makes 45 saves. Miller saved their ass last night, you'd think that the team would want to play better in front of him the next night because of that.

To put it into perspective, we were playing one of the best team's in the league who are the defending Stanley Cup Champions. Thanks to Ryan Miller, the highest scoring team in the NHL only had one goal for pratically the entire game. But with such a talented and smart team like Detroit, it's extremely dangerous to sit on a 1-0 lead or a 1-1 tie. I don't care how good your goalie is playing, you're going to get burned. Ryan Miller was playing phenomenal in front of his home state and his team couldn't have at least gotten a point for him. Unbelievable. Jason Pominville's two missed opportunities was extremely frustrating. Especially the 2-on-1 with Hecht towards the end of the game. When you have a 2-on-1 against Detroit and the game is tied 1-1 in the third then you have to score. The fact that we were in the game the entire game when it could have easily been a blackout is just very annoying. I can only punch a hole in the wall shake my head.

Miller has been playing superb hockey over the past several games. I'm very impressed with him, and I just feel bad for him that the team couldn't win or at least get a point for him tonight. What a shame. Carolina lost today and we could have gained sole possession of the 8th spot. Florida is only one point behind us.

Very frustrating. Rest up and be ready for Chicago, boys.

Last nights game showed that Buffalo is not in the same league as the Wings. They are not a team that can role with the bigger elite teams from the west. I was hoping to get a point out of it and we came within 3 minutes of having that point. Against a team like Detroit that is show deep, the team just ran out of gas which was apparent in the last 5 minutes. When I saw the players on the ice for Detroits second goal at the end of their shift, the Jochen Hecht line I turned to my friend and said this is where Detroit scores, they are getting sloppy and bunching up leaving people open. Sure enough as I said that the goal was scored. With that goal the wind was just taken out of our sails.

Yeah, I could sense the fatigue too. I knew a goal was imminent. I was just hoping they could hold on for three more minutes to get a much needed point.

In my opinion...Detroit is the best team in the league, hands down. They are everything a hockey team should be. All they are missing is an All-Star goaltender but even without one they are pretty damn good. I was actually impressed that we held our own for the entire game, even after we have played the night before. It's just frustrating that we still came out with 0 points.

I think Detorit's goaltending situation is very good. Conklin has a unbelievable record 15-5-1along with 4 shutouts. Osgood 14-2missed a number of games banged up. He resume speaks for itself he has 3 Stanely Cups 2 as a starter 12th All-Time in the NHL in Wins 3 All-Star appearances, 2 Jennings and was once a Vezina runner-up. Throw in the goal against Hartford and I would say is could be the most overlooked goalie of all time. The Red Wings are so good that people looking for a flaw always go to goaltending. That is hardly the case. I look at the Sharks who many believe are the best team in the West, what their goalies have done and would much rather have the Wings tandem.

I didn't mean that they're weak at goaltending. It was just more of me saying, "God they're so damn good, just throw in an All-Star goalie and they'd be PERFECT." I agree I like their tandem too...it gives each goalie proper rest so they can always be fresh. And with the team that's in front of them, you don't really have to worry about which goalie is between the pipes that night.

It's pretty sad when I play hockey with my girlfriend now, everytime I shoot the puck wide of the net I say 'I'm being Jason Pominville now.' Not a good thing, Pommers...

Miller can only play superb for so long against a team like Detroit before letting up. He must have a lot of patience with the team in front of him after a game like that, because I know I would throw a chair across the locker room. Or maybe he does take out his anger in other ways, we'll probably never know.

If I were Ryan I would probably want to punch them all in the face. But then again, he's a professional athlete who's playing in the NHL. I'm sure he knows how to control his anger better than I would have. Mama told me there'd be days like this... I did like after one game Ryan said something along the lines of how he would have smashed his stick against a concrete wall if he would have been pulled. Loves it.

And haha, Pominville...all those wide shots. It probably haunts him in his sleep.
